The MEMa Studio Campaign
Put a working studio in front of a student who has never seen one
Since 2012, TechKno Academy has taught film, music and sound to young people on Chicago's South Side, led by producers, engineers and directors who do this for a living. Your gift funds the next cohort, and the 53-foot mobile studio that will take the same training to schools that have none.
Why Give
Working since 2012
More than 500 students have come through TechKno Academy. This is not a pilot.
Taught by people who do the job
Music producers, recording artists, film directors, audio engineers and videographers. Students learn on professional equipment, from professionals.

Frequently asked questions

By using Zeffy as our donation platform, 100% of your contribution goes directly to the mission. Today that funds film, music and sound programs for teens in Chicago: writing, producing and designing sound for short films. As the MEMa Studio is built, those same programs will travel to schools beyond the city.
-
Yes, equipment especially. Professional audio and video gear, computers and software licences go straight into the programs. Get in touch before sending anything, so we can confirm it's something we can use and maintain. We'll acknowledge in writing what we receive; valuing a non-cash gift is the donor's responsibility rather than ours.
-
Yes. There are plenty of opportunities to help in the classroom, and we're always interested in working professionals who want to pass on what they know. Get in touch and we'll find a fit.

The programs run either way. They have since 2012, in space that schools and partner organizations provided. Every gift goes to the work regardless. The Studio makes that work reach further; it isn't a condition of it happening.
